In Italy the beaches characterized by the blue flag, that indicates clean water, eco services, recycling, cycling and accessibility for all are growing.
231 Italian beaches are excellent, 4 more than last year, representing 117 Italian municipalities and corresponding to approximately 10% of beaches awarded internationally.
The “winner” is Liguria, with 17 locations, one more than last year, Marche and Tuscany follow with 16 locations and then, Abruzzo with 13 flags. Campania has 12 blue flags, Puglia and Emilia Romagna 8.
Nothing new for Veneto (6), while Lazio arrives at 5, thus overcoming Sicily and Calabria with 4; Friuli Venezia Giulia and Sardinia reconfirm the 2 flags of last year and reached from Piedmont, which comes to share two flags (about the lakes) and ending with Molise and Basilicata, with one Blue Flag.
